What is Clinical MSK Rehabilitation?

Will clinical MSK rehabilitation help my condition?
Clinical Musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation can benefit a broad range of conditions both chronic and acute. However, if we determine that treatment is not appropriate for you, we will inform you during the initial assessment. Depending on the nature of the problem, we may be able to offer advice on the next steps.
Whats is neuro-rehab?
Neurorehabilitation, often referred to as neuro rehab, is a specialised field of rehabilitation therapy focused on helping individuals recover and improve their functioning after neurological injuries or disorders. This type of rehabilitation aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals who have experienced impairments due to conditions affecting the nervous system, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or neurodegenerative diseases.
Do I need to be referred by a doctor?
No, you may book an appointment to see a clinical rehabilitation specialist without consulting your GP. However, we work closely with GPs and often communicate with them regarding your care and my seek medical clearance, if required.
Will I need to undress?
During your first assessment and subsequent treatment sessions, we may require you to partially undress to carry out a thorough assessment. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended for your convenience and that of the therapist. We respect individuals’ dignity at all times, and you are welcome to bring a chaperone with you.
Do you accept referrals from private health care insurance companies?
Unfortunately, at this time we do not, but we are looking at offering this in the future.
I am in a lot of pain and getting to the clinic is difficult. Can you visit me at home?
Home visits are available on request. We frequently treat people at home for various reasons such as mobility problems and transport difficulties.
My loved one has dementia and is at risk of falls, do you have a service for this?
Yes, Maintain Independence is unique in that we specialise in neurological rehabilitation, and have years of experience supporting those living with all types of Dementia to help them lives the best possible life.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your appointment, you must contact the Maintain Independence within 48 hours. Failure to do so will result in being charged the full rate of the treatment session. Similarly, if you fail to attend without any notice, you will be charged.
Do you have disabled access?
Yes, we do have wheelchair access at the Clinic via The Greenroom Cafe and/or south entrance.
