Maintain Independence was created from a simple belief: everyone deserves the opportunity to live as independently, confidently and actively as possible, regardless of age, injury or health condition.
Founded by Zoë Robson, Maintain Independence combines MSK (Musculoskeletal) rehabilitation, exercise, sports therapy and wellbeing support to help people improve their quality of life and achieve their personal goals.

From the age of three, I knew I wanted to join the military. That childhood dream became a reality when I joined the Royal Military Police, where I proudly served for 12 years, including eight years overseas.
My military career taught me resilience, discipline and the importance of supporting people through challenging situations. It also gave me a deep appreciation for the strength of the human spirit and what can be achieved with the right support.
After the birth of my son, I made the difficult decision to leave the Army and focus on family life. Whilst one chapter was closing, another was just beginning.
Over the past 16 years, I have dedicated my career to rehabilitation, health and care services, working with older adults, people living with neurological conditions, individuals recovering from injury or surgery, and those facing challenges that threaten their independence.
Along the way, I have contributed to a number of research projects, including work with NHS England on falls prevention and collaborations with both Salford University and Cardiff Metropolitan University on rehabilitation and physical activity.
These experiences have strengthened my belief that successful rehabilitation is about far more than treating a condition or injury. It's about understanding the person behind it.
Throughout my career, I repeatedly met people who felt overlooked, rushed through services, or unsure where to turn for ongoing support.
Many needed more than a treatment plan. They needed someone who would listen, understand their goals and work alongside them to achieve them.
That's why I founded Maintain Independence.
For some people, independence means getting back to the activities they love after surgery or injury.
For others, it means remaining safely in their own home, managing a long-term condition, reducing pain, or rebuilding confidence after a fall.
Whatever independence means to you, my goal is to help you achieve it.
I believe that no two people are the same, which is why every programme is tailored to the individual.
Drawing on experience in rehabilitation, sports therapy, neurological exercise, falls prevention and home-based support, I take a whole-person approach that focuses on your goals, your challenges and your lifestyle.
Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing pain, living with a neurological condition, looking to improve mobility, or simply wanting to stay active and healthy, you'll receive support that is personalised, practical and focused on long-term results.
Maintain Independence officially launched in September 2024 with a simple mission: to help people move better, feel stronger and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Since our launch, we have been incredibly proud of what has been achieved in such a short space of time.
Within our first year, Maintain Independence was honoured to receive the Start-Up of the Year Award from the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce. This recognition reflected not only the growth of the business but also the positive impact we are making within our local community.
We have also developed meaningful partnerships with organisations that share our passion for improving lives, including the 'Kings Award Winners', The Stroke Survivors Speech and Language Group.
Working alongside stroke survivors has been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey. We have seen individuals who were told they had reached the limit of their recovery begin to achieve improvements they never thought possible.
Some people had been living with the effects of stroke for seven or eight years and believed that no further progress could be made. Through personalised rehabilitation, specialist exercise and ongoing support, we have helped individuals reduce pain, regain movement, improve confidence and rediscover abilities they thought were lost forever.
These experiences reinforce what we have always believed: recovery does not have an expiry date, and every individual deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The stories, achievements and resilience of the people we support continue to inspire everything we do at Maintain Independence.
To help people move with confidence, recover with purpose, and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
Because independence isn't just about what you can do today, it's about protecting your quality of life for the future.
Whether you're recovering from injury, managing a long-term condition, living with pain, or looking to improve your independence, we're here to help.
